How To Turn Off Headlights Jeep Grand Cherokee 2017

Q: I am the owner of a new (to me) 2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk with around 20,000 miles. I have had it for i month.

The vehicle is equipped with the automated headlights feature, ane that I have had in other vehicles and detect very useful and convenient. The result that I am having is that the headlights remain on all of the fourth dimension with the switch gear up to automatic, even on the brightest sunny days.

The dealer has repeatedly told me that this is normal as the vehicle is equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). These are the headlights, not the DRLs, every bit both are lit. In addition, the green nuance headlight indicator and the blue loftier beam indicator are both lit as well as the taillights.

What complicates the matter is that, while this was constant for the first 10 days, it has now become somewhat intermittent. It does not function correctly well-nigh xc% of the time, but occasionally does.

Of course, when I final brought it in to the dealer, the lights were functioning normally.

I'm wondering if you have come across this or are aware of whatsoever technical bulletins?

A: There are 2 automatic setting, one that turns the headlights on and the daytime running lights off when it rains or gets nighttime.

The second is automated loftier-beams which plow the high-axle headlights on or off depending on road conditions and lighting.

According to the vehicle owner's manual, the DRLs should shut off when the headlights are on. Some of these functions can be controls by the Uconnect app role in the multimedia setting. Because it was a used car, perhaps someone manipulated the lighting controls to their own preferences? I would inquire the dealer to reset the lights and bank check the sensors. I have seen some these sensors affected by spider webs and nicotine film.

Q: I enjoy your weekly column find it very informative. I recently saw a video of an electric vehicle charging that caught burn destroying two other vehicles.

Later on doing some boosted enquiry I found some disastrous fires related to electric cars. I had non heard of this earlier, then I looked in Snopes and they seem to agree. Is this something to worry about or just a ane-in-a-million occurrence?

A: Any time there is a transfer of energy, combustion is possible. Let's look at some numbers:

Tesla claims to accept sold most 700,000 cars in the U.S. in the past iii years. Several websites have reported a few dozen fires worldwide while charging upward various Tesla models. Although not quite "ane-in-a-million," but pretty shut. To put that into perspective, according to the National Fire Protection Association at that place are about v,000 gas station fires in the U.Southward. yearly and 61% of those fires involve cars refueling. Looking at these numbers, information technology certainly seems safer to accuse an electric vehicle than refuel a gasoline car.

Q: I have a Cadillac and, on these really cold days, the rut is very uneven. The temperature varies quite a flake from the commuter to passenger seat. I have had a door and the motor that runs information technology replaced, just it still didn't prepare the problem.

It is getting to the signal my married woman doesn't want to ride in the car because the rut is blasting on the commuter's side and she is cold.

A: My first thought was the blend door and actuator every bit well.

Years ago, Honda had an consequence that when the A/C was on, the driver's side would be cold and the passenger side warm. Every bit is plow out, some Honda vehicles — when the air conditioner was low on refrigerant — would affect the temperature output left to right.

I suspect, with your car, the coolant level is low or the heater core is partially clogged causing the erratic behavior of the heater.
